Objectives of Foundation
The Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal has been established as a partnership between philanthropy, governments and business to stimulate rural and regional renewal in Australia.
The Foundation's objective set out in the Constitution is "to promote for the public benefit rural and regional renewal, regeneration and development in Australia in social, economic, environmental, and cultural areas". The Foundation will achieve its objectives in a variety of ways including the funding of projects that meet the following guidelines and have real potential to achieve significant results for people within rural and regional Australia. It will take a leadership role in assisting regional communities to respond to social, cultural and economic change. It will collaborate with communities around Australia and strengthen their capacity to drive change. The Foundation will encourage innovation and creativity from rural and regional communities.
The Foundation will disseminate information about best practice projects and successful development models through its networks, the media, the information service and the Internet. All project evaluations and reports will be available to other groups to enhance the exchange of information. Financial details may be presented in summary only if deemed to be of a commercial-in-confidence nature.
Since 2003 FRRR in partnership with the ANZ delivers the Seeds of Renewal Program. This program aims to provide community based responses to a range of issues within small rural communities, nationally. This annual program provides grants of up to $10,000 to communities with a population of 15,000 or less. Each year the guidelines and application form are posted on the website for the current funding round. For lists of successful grants in the Seeds of Renewal Program please see FRRR newsletters.
