Rural Education Program (REP)

The Rural Education Program (REP) seeks to ensure that quality education remains accessible to children in rural and remote communities regardless of climatic and economic conditions. Through collaboration with local agencies and sponsored partnerships with individuals and corporations, the REP seeks to extend the educational recourses and individualised learning support that rural students require.

Applications for funding are accepted from incorporated not for profit organisations and schools. The beneficiaries of grants should be preschool, primary or secondary students and be in financial hardship. Requests from individuals or families will not be considered unless they are submitted by an incorporated organisation.

Suitable projects or activities could include

  • Activities that directly alleviate the disruption caused to children and young people by rural crisis such as drought, bushfire, floods and economic downturn
  • Projects that help redress any educational disadvantage caused by remoteness of students
  • Individual students where, without financial assistance, their education is likely to be severely disrupted
  • Basic research into the status of rural and remote education, as needed to facilitate the work of the fund
  • Material aid for books, equipment, accommodation and clothing
