McCully’s Gap is a small rural community located outside Muswellbrook in the Hunter Valley of N.S.W.  This is an old-fashioned community whose members take interest and care of each other and whose local hall is its life blood.  It is a meeting place and event venue for all community gatherings, with at least ten groups using it for a regular meeting.

The floor of the hall was estimated to be at least 60 years old and was in desperate need of replacing.  With labour provided by the local correctional facility, the Hall Association was able to raise some of the required $15,000.00 themselves.  Thanks to the generosity of the Becher Foundation funds received through the FRRR Small Grants for Small Rural Communities Program made completion of the overall project possible.

The Hall Association has informed us that the hall is now renowned as having the best dance floor in the district.  An added bonus is that the old floorboards were reused on the lower walls.
