Mungery Recreation Reserve Trust

Mungery is a township of some 2,400 residents located approximately 500kms west of Sydney.

Living in a remote rural area, residents rely heavily on each other and on their local halls which in many cases are the only meeting places for the area.

In applying for a FRRR/ANZ Seeds of Renewal Grant, the Mungery Reserve Trust was hoping to secure funding for the construction of an outdoor fireplace and development of a meeting area for the community.

A grant of $5,175 was duly approved. Delighted, Sue Rae of the Mungery Recreation Reserve Trust recently contacted FRRR “Since the completion of the project there have been many more gatherings during winter,” she wrote “The hall has also been hired out by groups. It is such a great place to meet now and I feel many problems have been solved around the fire over a camp oven and a drink. Thanks so much – very appreciated.”
