What do Meringur, Mullimbimby, Merredin and Muttaburra have in common?

22 August 2002

These four small rural communities have all been successful in attaining funding from FRRR – The Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal under the new ‘Small Grants for Small Rural Communities’ program. The first funding round for this exciting program has recently been announced with 21 grants totalling approximately $90,000 supported.

Sylvia Admans, CEO said ‘It is pleasing to see so many small communities undertaking projects that have such a positive and innovative way of creating renewal and FRRR is pleased to provide support’.

To make small grants more accessible to communities in rural and remote Australia, a collaborative program supported by grants from Perpetual Trustees, The RE Ross Trust, The Myer Foundation and the FRRR has been established. The Foundation – FRRR also administers the program.

This collaborative approach is designed to: make better, targeted use of funds improving access for rural and regional communities; provide a simpler application process, and enhance efficiency and effectiveness for philanthropic trusts and foundations who wish to support small communities.
