Helping Hands

HELPING HANDS PROGRAM GUIDELINES

Helping Hands is a source of funds up to $50,000 to assist small rural communities to implement or complete projects that will ensure their economic sustainability. 

Who can be funded?

·         Not-for-profit organisations can apply for projects and activities that offer clear public benefit for communities living in small rural and remote locations in Australia, contributing to their development in social and community welfare, economic, environmental, health, education or cultural areas.
·       Applications from communities with a population of 10,000 or less will receive
reference.
·         Grants will be made in amounts up from $10,000 to $50,000. ·         Multi-year funding applications will be considered.
·         To be eligible, projects must be for a charitable purpose (benefit the whole
community).
·         Organisations should also have an ABN.
·         Organisations demonstrating Community Partnerships will be preferred to multiple
applications from one community.

What can be funded?

·     Capital infrastructure such as sheds, tourist sites, community halls & meeting places.
·     Building maintenance and repairs
·     Materials & resources such as furniture, office supplies, education, health, cultural resources
·     Tools and equipment such as trailers, toys, emergency services, training, books, heating/cooling.
·     Information Technology

Preference will be given to projects that focus on improving the community’s economic sustainability in areas such as:

Innovative Community Based Business Ventures

Community Infrastructure that will have an impact on economic growth

Adaptation to climate change

Provision of Education and Training that will have an impact on local employment and income

What can’t be funded?

·         Feasibility studies and business planning
·         Local Government
·         Operational and administration costs
·         Wages and Salaries
.         Travel and Accommodation
·         Vehicles
·         Sport & Recreation*
·         Social Activities*

* The Australian Taxation Office has ruled that the encouragement or advancement of sport, recreation or social activities are not considered to have a “charitable purpose”.

FRRR wishes to advise that it is not accepting applications for the Helping Hands program at this time.
