Grants announced to support ageing rural Australians
35 communities benefit from positive ageing funds
The Caring for Ageing Rural Australians Program, offered since 2004, was revised this year to encourage projects and activities that improve the wellbeing of older Australians through community based proactive and positive ageing programs, as well as practical support such as equipment for centres and community based residential facilities.
Of the 59 applications considered, 35 projects were successful and have been awarded a total of $259,801. For the first time, this will include a number of projects in New South Wales, which will be funded for three years, thanks to a new partnership with the Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation.
Details of these projects, which include some innovative solutions to local issues, can be found below. Congratulations to all of these inspirational community groups.
