Grants enhance rural community culture, arts, tourism and heritage
FRRR's third round of the Culture, Arts, Tourism and Community Heritage (CATCH) Grants Program has awarded funding to 30 exciting community projects across Australia. This targeted grants program supports unique and valuable projects that enrich and preserve local culture and heritage. The program, launched in 2009, grew from the Small Grants for Small Rural Communities program where a high proportion of applications fell into the categories that are now embraced by CATCH. The program was on hiatus during 2012 while FRRR sought funding partners to ensure the program could be operated on a national scale.
Grants of up to $20,000 are available to not-for-profit organisations in small rural, regional and remote communities (with a population of 10,000 or less) for projects of a cultural, historical or public tourism nature, assisting in providing community renewal through economic stimulus.
The 2013 round includes a wide variety of projects, from music and performance projects to museum improvements, heritage restorations and oral history projects, to name a few. The growing number of towns and organisations reaching significant milestones of 100 or 150 years is represented in this year's applications, and there is a strong representation from cultural and Indigenous projects.
This round is funded by the Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation, the McCusker Charitable Foundation and The Julian Flett Foundation and The Ledger Charitable Trust, both managed by Perpetual Trustees and the FRRR and Friends fund.
