Cushioning the fall in Corinella
There should be no more scraped knees and elbows for the kids of Corinella, who are all smiles now that their playground area has been spruced up.
Corinella Public School is a small, isolated rural school surrounded by farming paddocks in the Central West of NSW, servicing the communities of Corinella and Forbes. The school is a focus for the community, and often acts as a meeting place for families and community members.
The children’s playground had become unsafe because the soft fall has worn away over the years and the sandpit was getting very sparse. The Corinella Parents & Carers Association successfully applied for a grant of $1844.37 from FRRR’s Repair-Restore-Renew grant program to refill the sandpit and lay a new, thicker and safer soft fall. These upgraded facilities have made the playground safe again for even the younger children. Ms. Jenny Fay of the P&C said that project has been very successful. “It has provided a much safer and enjoyable area for our growing young community to utilise and network with other families”.
