Grants enable education equality for country kids
FRRR has announced the recipients for the inaugural round of the Rural Education Australia Program (REAPing Rewards) - an accessible national small grants program which provides funding for locally driven projects and programs that directly benefit children and youth (0 - 18 years) and their educators in rural and remote communities.
The grant recipients are spread fairly evenly across the three target service provision areas – Early Childhood Centres, Primary & Secondary Schools and other community education providers, covering projects in the areas of technology, outdoor enhancement and infrastructure including playgrounds and repairs, curriculum extension activities such as music programs and camps, and staff development.
REAPing Rewards seeks to reduce the barriers to quality education for children and students in rural and remote communities, responding to the constant challenges to deliver educational support in rural Australia that are brought about by factors such as economic restructure and decline, isolation, student and family engagement and adverse climatic events. Funding for the program is provided by the Ian Potter Foundation, The Yulgibar Foundation, Third Link Investment and the Tim Fairfax Family Foundation.
See below for the full list of recipients for Round 1, 2013.
