Fundraising Account: Child Writes Fund |
Child Writes Fund is a charity that 'empowers children to navigate their future through story'. The Child Writes program gives primary school-aged children a voice by offering them the opportunity to write and illustrate their own children's picture books.The Fund partnered with FRRR in March 2019 to create a Not-for-Profit Fundraising Account to support its endeavours, and the funds raised contributing to delivering more programs in rural and regional areas where children are in crisis and making the library of books widely available via an app.

First aid course breathes new life into Berry Springs emergency response |
While it's only around an hour's drive to central Darwin, the small community of Berry Springs is relatively isolated when it comes to accessing emergency medical care. It can take up to 45 minutes for an ambulance to reach them. Rather than lament and complain about the situation, the Seniors Group decided to get proactive. They secured a $1,440 Small Grant for Rural Communities, funded by the John T Reid Charitable Trusts to undertake some first-aid training.

Building Burnie's community connections |
Ten Days on the Island, in collaboration with Urban Theatre Projects, sought to 'update the file' with the broader Burnie community on Shorewell Park - to demonstrate that old perceptions were outdated, and to encourage all of Burnie towards a more inclusive conversation. Thanks to the Bertalli Family Foundation the group received $5,000 from the Small Grants for Rural Communities Program, a contribution towards the cost of developing and staging a community-strengthening event.

Capel Maker's Trail hoists the flag for arts in the region |

The Foundation for Rural&Regional Renewal is reminding the public that recovery takes time, and help will be needed for many years to come. Therefore, the Foundation's CEO encourages donors to consider splitting their contribution, directing some toward more immediate support, and contributing to FRRR's Disaster Resilience and Recovery Fund, which will have a longer-term impact.

Catch a Lenovo in the desert |
The Desert Uplands Committee (DUC) in central western Queensland received three Lenovo laptops valued at $4,047 via an ANZ Seeds of Renewal grant. Identification and eradication of weed infestations is a major part of the DUC's landcare work.These computers have enhanced the capacities of the landholders in managing their properties and resources, with multi-property data being easily collected, collated, analysed and then fed back to the land managers. The IT upgrade has modernised the operations of the Committee, enabling them to have near-paperless meetings, and activating processes in near-real time.
