FRRR today announced that its Caring for Ageing Rural Australians grant program has opened. Funds are available to assist community-based, not-for-profit groups to undertake projects and programs that encourage older people living in country towns to age in place and remain healthy and active. There are funds available for projects in Victoria, and for a smaller number of projects inf Qld and NSW. |

FRRR has awarded grants to seven community groups in NSW and TAS that are continuing to support the ongoing recovery of their communities, following natural disasters in 2013.
A further 30 not-for-profit and community organisations across cotton growing regions will benefit from a $5,000 boost just before the festive season, as the 2016 Aussie Cotton Farmers Grow Communities grants are awarded again. $450,000 has now been distributed over the last three years across New South Wales and Queensland.
This review of FRRR's operations during FY15/16 demonstrates the impact of our partnerships with the private sector, philanthropy and government on rural, regional and remote communities. ANZ and the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR) have today announced that $275,000 in grant funding will be shared between 26 community groups from across regional Australia, while another three groups will receive IT equipment, as part of the 2016 ANZ Seeds of Renewal program.
FRRR today announced applications are invited for the seventh round of Tackling Tough Times Together, which helps communities in NSW and Qld affected by the ongoing drought to come together and support one another.
This issue of eNews details some of the activities and events that FRRR staff attended over the past month, connecting with donors and communities. It's also full of program news and updates, and of course some great grants in action, from Wagin in WA, Biloela in Qld, Heywood in Vic, and Narromine in NSW.
Community groups that support young people living in or around the Eden community can now apply for grants for projects that improve the lives and futures of children and young people. In total, $270,000 is available, thanks to a partnership between the NSW Department of Family and Community Services (FACS) and the Foundation for Rural&Regional Renewal (FRRR).
FRRR today invited applications from community groups in rural, regional and remote areas for the 30th round of its Small Grants for Rural Communities program. This is FRRR's broadest program and provides grants of up to $5,000 to address local needs with locally driven solutions.
FRRR today announced that 19 community groups will share more than $150,000 to implement eight ideas developed by young people to address issues of concern to them.
Kellerberrin Little Learners is an innovative early learning program for children aged zero to five years. With a lack of funding, the Kellerberrin District High School principal applied to the REAPing Rewards program and received an $8,000 grant, funded by Third Link Investments, to help cover the coordinator's salary. The Shire of Kellerberrin also supported the process, providing superannuation funds and the Kellerberrin District High School provide the venue, as well as access to photocopiers and some resources and play equipment.
Kaloma received a $5,000 grant as part of the Aussie Cotton Farmers Grow Communities program in 2015, after receiving three separate nominations from cotton farmers Christine Dent, Rosemary Webster and Mary Ann Clark, and was able to put those funds toward the cost of a new fire sprinkler system.
FRRR has partnered with Domino's Pizza Enterprises to launch a new small grants program to benefit rural, regional and remote communities. Grants of up to $5,000 are available to community projects that support education and youth initiatives, leadership and entrepreneurship and natural disaster recovery and preparedness.
The Foundation for Rural&Regional Renewal (FRRR) has announced the recipients of Round 29 of their flagship grants program - Small Grants for Rural Communities (SGRC). This round, out of the 479 groups that applied, 81 projects will receive a grant and share more than $300,000. Communities as widespread as Marra Creek, NSW, East Arnhem NT, Bruny Island, Tas, and Wongan-Ballidu, WA received grants to deliver their projects.
The 2016 ANZ Seeds of Renewal program officially opened today, with ANZ committing $250,000 in grant funding for education and employment projects in rural, regional and remote Australian communities. The grants aim to build local capacity, increase access to employment and develop greater community participation.
FRRR awarded 24 grants through the sixth round of the REAPing Rewards program. Access to quality education remains one of the most popular types of requests for funding. FRRR is currently reviewing the program, and working with donors to ensure funds are available for priority needs in rural, regional and remote Australia.
In a desperate bid to buck the declining population trend in their community, Wycheproof Vision wanted to do something practical to increase school enrolments, sporting club memberships, and to help rebuild the local economy. A $4,000 ANZ Seeds of Renewal grant was used as seed funding to kick start the $1 Rent a Farmhouse project, which has helped transform the small town.
FRRR began partnering with the Pratt Foundation in 2002 to realise the vision, held by the late Richard Pratt, for more efficient water use and healthier ecosystems in Australia. There were thirty community projects funded through this partnership and this report revisits five of them which reflect the diverse size and scale of funding, and to explore the legacy of targeting grants at community-led water projects.
July's eNews is jam packed with program news, including announcements of successful recipients for School&Beyond, Grants for Resilience&Wellness (GR&W) and Community Group Futures, as well as the Gardiner Dairy Foundation Working in Dairy Communities Small Grants program, and the final round of the Goulburn Valley McEwen Foundation program. The grants calendar has been updated for the remainder of the year, with some fantastic programs currently open or opening soon to support rural, regional and remote communities.
The Gardiner Dairy Foundation and the Foundation for Rural&Regional Renewal (FRRR) today announced the 31 recipients that will share $113,000 from the 2016 Working in Dairy Communities Small Grants program.
FRRR today announced grants to 23 groups for projects that support the ongoing recovery of communities affected by the 2009 Victorian bushfires. While it's now more than seven years after the fires, new needs continue to emerge and communities are still working hard to recover.
The 2014 Repair-Restore-Renew program funded one grant to the Shire of Mundaring in the heart of the Perth Hills, which was devastated by bushfires in January 2014. The grant helped fund a development seminar for parents, titled 'Saving Our Adolescents'.

The third round of Heywire Youth Innovation grants opened today, with more than $100,000 on offer to help communities adopt one of eight ideas developed at the Heywire Regional Youth Summit. Communities can apply for up to $10,000 to adapt, adopt and act on one of the ideas.
