What a year it's been! Our December edition is bursting at the seams with inspirational grant in action stories focusing on a wide range of issues from teen pregnancy to cutting edge beef production research, connecting students with art, and how a simple grant has made it possible for kids in a remote WA town to attend swimming lessons. There's also info on our recent roadtrip to the Goldfields in WA, and an update on our latest entrepreneurial graduates from the Social Change 101 program, as well as the usual program updates and info. 21 Nov 2017 FRRR appoints new board members

FRRR has has appointed two new board members. FRRR welcomes Dr Steven Kennedy PSM and Bruce Scott OAM to the board. Both men bring valuable skills and knowledge to the board, and ensure ongoing representation of key perspectives, following the recent retirement of Tim Fairfax AC and Mike Mrdak AO.

20 Nov 2017 Nation-wide celebrations showcase strength of community and philanthropy partnerships

Today marks the start of Community and Philanthropy Partnerships Week (CPPW). Groups around the country will be acknowledging and celebrating what they have achieved by working together.

27 Sep 2017 Innovative solutions to challenging problems in nine NSW LGAs

The grant recipients for the third and final round of Innovation for Community Impact (I4CI) Program have been announced. More than $236,000 in grants will be shared between thirteen community organisations across NSW to support locally-led initiatives addressing pressing social issues.

23 Aug 2017 Drought affected communities receive support to boost tourism, local economy and wellbeing

Community groups in drought-affected parts of Queensland and New South Wales will share in $209,112 in grants, thanks to FRRR's Tackling Tough Times Together (TTTT) program.

14 Aug 2017 A new gateway to small grants for rural communities

FRRR's flagship Small Grants for Rural Communities program opened today, with applications invited from community groups for grants of up to $5,000. In total, there is $380,000 available. This is FRRR's broadest program, reflecting the diversity of needs in rural, regional and remote communities.

8 Aug 2017 Victorian Bushfire Recovery Grants Announced

16 community groups received funding to support long-term recovery and resilience projects for communities affected by the 2009 Victorian bushfires.

8 Aug 2017 Seed-funding available to improve education, training and employment opportunities

Youth in Tolland, Kooringal or Ashmont Estates in Wagga Wagga are set to have access to a range of new education, training and job opportunities, thanks to funding from the NSW Department of Family and Community Services (FACS).

8 Aug 2017 Grants set to help address biggest challenges facing rural youth

Rural youth and their mentors in 35 rural and regional communities will soon be implementing projects to address some of the biggest issues facing young Australians, thanks to the FRRR ABC Heywire Youth Innovation Grants program.

We welcome in the new financial year with a newsletter that is full of updates about our programs, recent grant recipients and a heads up about our new online grants application portal (FRRRs Grants Gateway) that we are currently implementing. Our grants in action cover a choir in Esk, Qld, youth radio programs in Tasmania, art workshops in Moree, NSW, and a Kitchen Rules style cooking competition in Titjikala, NT.

31 Jul 2017 Sally Foundation offers grants for youth initiatives in Orange

The Sally Foundation, which holds a Donation Account with FRRR, will soon launch their inaugural small grants program to benefit young people living in or around Orange, NSW.

17 Jul 2017 Grants for good now available

The Domino's Give for Good grants program opened today offering grants of up to $5,000 to not-for-profit initiatives to support youth issues, education and training, leadership development and disaster preparedness and recovery.A total of $150,000 is available this year for projects in rural, regional and remote communities. This is the second year of the program, which is administered by the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR).

6 Jul 2017 Victorian dairy communities share $100,000 in grants to build stronger local communities

FRRR and the Gardiner Dairy Foundation today announced that 24 recipients of the 2017 Working in Dairy Communities small grants program will share $100,000.

30 Jun 2017 Grants available to support vibrant cotton growing communities

The Aussie Cotton Farmers Grow Communities grants program is again offering cotton farmers in New South Wales and Queensland the chance to nominate a local not-for-profit organisation to receive one of thirty $5,000 grants.

7 Jun 2017 Deeply disadvantaged communities share $60,000 in grants

Twenty-three projects across Australia will share $61,843 from the 2017 Addressing Deep&Persistent Disadvantage Small Grants Program supported by the John Wallis Foundation and the Foundation for Rural&Regional Renewal (FRRR). The aim of the funding is to support capacity building within communities to be better able to deal with disadvantage and to strengthen leadership.

8 May 2017 Cyclone Debbie recovery fund gets a boost but more support needed

The Cyclone Debbie disaster is estimated to have caused at least $1 billion in damage. While nearly $200,000 has been donated to the FRRR Cyclone Debbie Recovery Fund, more support is needed.

12 Apr 2017 Grants support innovative projects in Eden

Eight projects share in $270,000 from the Eden Futures Program created by the NSW Department of Family and Community Services and the Foundation of Rural and Regional Renewal to support innovative and community-led responses to issues identified in Eden. All projects are designed to improve opportunities for Eden's young people.

3 Apr 2017 Places available in Mitchell&Murrindindi Shires for a free social enterprise training program

FRRR today invited people in Murrinidindi and Mitchell Shires who have an idea for a social enterprise that will enhance their local community to participate in the free Social Change 101 program, funded by the Victorian Bushfire Appeal Fund.

3 Apr 2017 Grants available to tackle key social issues

Grants available to community groups in 10 NSW local government areas. Grants to support innovative and effective responses to issues including domestic and family violence, education disengagement, criminal behaviour and unemployment.

31 Mar 2017 ANZ donates to FRRR's Cyclone Debbie recovery fund

FRRR has welcomed ANZ Banking Group's $50,000 contribution to recovery in rural, regional and remote areas impacted by Cyclone Debbie and the subsequent floods.

30 Mar 2017 FRRR launches Cyclone Debbie recovery fund

FRRR has established a fund to support the medium to long-term recovery of communities impacted by Cyclone Debbie, and the subsequent flooding.

27 Mar 2017 Drought stricken Qld&NSW communities to benefit from grants to connect and support locals

$250,000 in grants is available to support drought affected communities in Queensland and Northern New South Wales. Community groups can apply for up to $15,000 to implement initiatives that support and encourage community connectivity, wellbeing and resilience; build community capacity to cope now and in future droughts; or enhance community infrastructure to support mental health, social and/or emotional wellbeing.

23 Feb 2017 Eight years on, grants still supporting recovery from Black Saturday

Twenty-four community groups impacted by the 2009 Victorian bushfires have received funding to support the community needs that continue to emerge post the devastating disaster, thanks to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal Fund. There 15 GR&W grants, and 9 Community Group Futures grants.

15 Feb 2017 Grants support drought affected communities, but more needed

FRRR today announced that thirteen community groups in parts of Queensland and New South Wales will share in $222,284 in grants for projects to help local groups tackle local issues caused by the ongoing drought conditions in these regions.

8 Feb 2017 School year off to a positive start for students affected by 2009 Victorian bushfires

School students affected by the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires in Victoria are continuing to receive the support they need to remain engaged with learning and prepare for post-secondary education or work, with five more groups sharing $92,000 in funding. The program is particularly aimed at keeping students in school or engaged in vocational education training, and ultimately employment.

2 Feb 2017 FRRR&Gardiner Dairy Foundation open 15th round of small grants program

$100,000 is available for community groups to apply for grants of up to $5,000 in all three Victorian Dairy Regions: Gippsland, Northern Victoria and South West Victoria. Grants to fund grass-roots community projects that strengthen small dairy communities, build their capacity to deal with local issues and enhance community infrastructure.

24 Jan 2017 FRRR&Gardiner Dairy Foundation to host three free grant-seeker workshops

The Gardiner Dairy Foundation and the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR) are hosting a free grant-seeker workshops in Tatura, Camperdown and Wonthaggi. The workshops offer local community members the opportunity to get practical tips on writing strong grant applications.

18 Jan 2017 A little grant can make a big difference

The 31st round of Small Grants for Rural Communities is open. More than $300,000 in grants is available to enable communities to implement projects and activities that offer a clear public benefit to rural, regional and remote communities.

16 Jan 2017 Ninety community groups receive Small Grants to welcome the New Year

The grant recipients of the 30th round of Small Grants for Rural Communties were announced today. More than $360,000 will be distributed to ninety community groups across regional, rural and remote Australian communities.
